How we became
The Alaska DockDogs club is bringing DockDogs to
Alaska! AKDD was created to promote, participate and
educate the citizens of Alaska about Big Air, Extreme
Vertical and Speed Retrieve for dogs and their handlers.
The club had a fun jump in 2007 and has 3 planned for
2008. We are actively working on bringing DockDogs
National to Alaska. In “Big Air” dogs jump for distance,
“Extreme Vertical” they jump for height and in “Speed
Retrieve” the dog is timed.
AKDD strives for an atmosphere where the entire family
can participate. Adults and children (7 and up) compete
with their dogs, of all breeds, sizes and ability levels
against each other for prizes. In “Big Air” the dogs sprint
down a 40 foot dock into a pool or lake. The distance is
measured on where the base of the dogs tail meets his
butt, hits the water.
The current world record is 26’10”… let’s see what
Alaska can do!
And remember… your dog CAN do that!
