Many people are desperate with pets meds, so anything from keeping tropical fish because they think that they should have a tank with running water, or water changing or cleaning the tank.
This is not so, provided you stick to the ratio of 1 in. of fish (excluding tail) to 1 gallon of water, put the right kind of washed sand and green plants in the tank, and keep the water topped up to the same level. Pumps and aeration equipment are not essential at pets meds.
